1) Name change. Unified internet identity.
2) I'm going to be posting here again, even if no one else is. Expect different content than before. More media criticism, less personal stuff. More public.
We're doing this. Who's with me?

Date: 2015-05-04 05:55 am (UTC)I have been getting increasingly frustrated with tumblr as a tool for discussion. It's great for news and for signal-boosting time-sensitive issues, and for sharing art. But I am discovering that the structure of tumblr encourages less honestly and more inclination toward crafting messages with an eye toward getting them shared at high volume. People only say things that they expect will be popular and edit their language to that effect, and speak a lot in quips and soundbytes. It's necessary, because tumblr demands that you communicate in a way that encourages likes and reblogs if you want your blog to be read, but at the same time, it makes the entire system feel disingenuous and much harder to foster a sense of community. I'm still planning on using it and it's still very useful for some things, but god is there a lack of critical thought or equal exchange of ideas going on over there.
