Funny story: Every state I have lived in has passed same sex marriage while I have lived there. Except Virginia, but I only lived there a few months.

Congratulations! I no longer get to be all smug about Canada to citizens of yet another US State! (I consider this a very good thing, obvs.) :D

I heard the news only last night because I've been out of town, and YAY! This is huge, NY is the third most populous state in the U.S.

Here marriage equality has been the law for 6 years (as of July 3) and it's a non-issue now as far as I can tell, a topic that has completely disappeared from the media. Because Marc married Miquel and Miren married LucĂa and the sky didn't fall - except on the economy, which is the reason the Socialists will lose next year, not marriage laws.

It is huge-- this roughly doubles the percentage of the population who may marry anyone they choose!
